Respect Your Elders

Age.

It’s made into a big deal when it comes to dating. Relationships are more easily accepted when the people involved are close in birth year. But should it really be a concern? It seems to be a matter of opinion.

I’ve always tended to date within a year or two of my own age.It wasn’t on purpose, it just happened that way. Then I started dating my current boyfriend, who just happens to be 11 years older than me. It was new territory, sure. Took some getting used to be, because some things are different. But in the end, for me, age stopped mattering.

While it may sometimes come up in conversation (or should I say arguments) that I’m “too young” to understand something, or he’s “too old” to get what I’m talking about, it mostly works out fine. So why is it usually made to be an issue?

I’m looking for input here; debate is welcomed.
