The Ex Factor
As if dating wasn’t difficult enough, one of the hardest parts about relationships is the end - breaking up. The separation, the emotional rollercoaster, dividing your belongings; it’s all a pain. for some people, it takes a long time to get over an ex. Others can do it fairly quickly. Either way, there is always an obstacle that still exists - what do you do when you run into them?
These chance meetings can sometimes get ugly. If there is bad blood between you, you may want to cause probelms for each other. Other broken couples will momentarily think they can make it work again, and let sex get involved. (Word to the wise - that is rarely a good idea, and more than likely won’t work out.)
The best advice I can give is to keep your cool. There’s no harm in being polite and saying hi, but try not to get into a drawn out conversation unless you’ve managed to stay friends. A general “how are ya” will suffice, and then go about your business. This way there’s less chance that an argument will occur, or a alcohol-infused lapse in judgement that makes you think that you need to get back with that person.
